Ask the experts: Tiger Therapy - sports massage (pt 1)

Marina Kyriacou, sports massage therapist at Tiger Therapy has given the team some advice on how to stay niggle-free throughout the 100 days of running challenge.

For the first part of her advice, she is giving us her tips regarding sports massage.

Sports Massage is a hugely effective way to assist recovery from intense training sessions, boosting your ability to heal and repair and leaving you in a stronger position for the next time you hit the streets.

Be consistent…. Book some regular sports massages spaced out consistently throughout the period of your challenge. This should help reduce the chances of you developing injuries or generally niggles and aches and pains.

Remember…. that the longer you ignore any concerns you might have, the less chance you have of being able to directly address those issues and allow any adaptation to take place before your goal is complete. Get things seen to and get issues addressed/worked on or managed but do it consistently.

However…. get yourself to a therapist straight away if you have:

  • Pain during running or because of running
  • Muscular discomfort or
  • Imbalances in muscular development

Much love and a big tiger hug!
