The 100 days of running challenge

Four girls embark on a challenge to raise awareness of FGM and money for its victims

On Friday 27 October 2017, Louise, Zoe, Jade and Lydia will embark on a challenge of completing 100 runs in 100 consecutive days.

The rules are simple; run at least a mile (1.6 km) each day for 100 days. The aim is to finish the challenge on Sunday 4 February 2018 when all four of us are competing in the London Winter Run. Yes, that means running on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

In order to give us that little bit more motivation to complete the challenge, we have decided to support FORWARD, the Foundation For Women's Health Research And Development. FORWARD is a leading African diaspora women’s campaign and support organisation.

Hopefully through this blog and through our challenge, we can raise awareness about these issues as well as all important funds for this great charity.

We are all keen runners, but have various levels of experience ranging from those of us who prefer the shorter distances, to more seasoned half marathon runners. The only thing we have in common is that none of us have ever undertaken something that requires this dedication or something on this scale.

We have a series of events planned to help us all get through the challenge, and I hope you enjoy hearing about our running highs and lows as well as learning more about this very real life issue with us.
